Kathleen (Kathy) Elizabeth Olsen Thibodeaux has lived in Louisiana since she was four years old. She received a bachelor’s degree in education, as well as master’s and specialist degrees in education supervision and administration, from McNeese State University. After teaching elementary-grade students for twenty-five years, she became a consultant for the federal Safe & Drug Free Schools and Communities program. She retired after working a total of thirty-eight years within the education system. Kathy has lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with her husband Lee Vinton Thibodeaux since 1965.
Kathy truly loved teaching children, and always tried to bring different and positive experiences to the classroom. She grew to love the Cajun French culture through her husband’s family, and she shared her love with her students through the filmstrip story of The Easter Gator. Some students even experienced pâquer-ing of Easter eggs!
Mary Beth Hebert studied commercial art at Sowela Technical Institute and worked as a graphic artist in the screen-printing industry for twenty-five years. Now retired, she lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and concentrates on her caricature work. She illustrated The Easter Gator by hand in her early twenties.
